What's it like to be a Compliance Manager?
A Compliance Manager is responsible for the adherence of an organisation to policies and procedures, especially regulatory and ethical standards. They perform regular audits, design control systems and help to design and implement company policies.
Tasks and duties
- Developing and implementing company policies.
- Regularly reviewing and evaluating company adherence to policies and regulations.
- Overseeing all business operations relating to compliance.
- Designing and managing control systems to deal with compliance violations.
- Supervising compliance team.
- Delivering employee training on compliance issues.
- Keeping abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in compliance control.
- Preparing reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
How to become a Compliance Manager
Although qualifications are not essential, employers may prefer candidates with formal qualifications in compliance or a bachelor degree in a relevant field.
- 1.Complete a relevant qualification. This could be a Certificate IV in Compliance and Risk Management (10131NAT), or a Diploma of Quality Auditing (BSB51615).
- 2.Look for employment opportunities as a Compliance Officer, where you’ll gain in-depth knowledge of the standards and regulations of the industry you are interested in working in.
- 3.Explore opportunities to further your career and skills by undertaking a bachelor degree majoring in a relevant field such as law, finance or economics.
