What's it like to be a Client Services Officer?
A Client Services Officer is responsible for delivering services to customers as part of a financial management team. They handle transactions for clients, manage individual client caseloads and escalate complex matters higher up the chain.Did you find this video helpful?
Tasks and duties
- Handling client calls and emails, responding in a timely manner.
- Preparing Statements of Advice.
- Preparing documentation for meetings.
- Lodging applications and preparing submissions for new business.
- Liaising with internal teams and colleagues to resolve problems and find solutions.
- Creating and maintaining client files.
- Liaising with financial institutions on behalf of clients.
- Giving technical support to clients on bespoke software, if they are using it at home.
- Processing client orders, such as new company formations, trusts or self-managed superannuation funds.
- Assessing client budgets and creating financial plans.
How to become a Client Services Officer
Qualifications are not essential to become a Client Services Officer, but they may be an advantage when seeking employment.
- 1.Gain experience in an entry-level Client Services role in the wealth management or financial planning sector.
- 2.Develop your computer literacy and database management (XPLAN) skills.
- 3.Consider obtaining a tertiary qualification in financial planning. These courses may take you 3 years full-time, and you will need to have completed year 12 or gain special admission.
