What’s it like working at Cerebral Palsy Alliance?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Cerebral Palsy Alliance stands out for its exceptional clients and the rewarding nature of working with them, alongside comprehensive training and development opportunities. The organisation is characterised by a supportive culture and values-driven environment, particularly among therapy teams. Staff consistently express satisfaction in doing meaningful work that makes a tangible difference in people's lives, especially in therapy and early childhood intervention programs.

However, there are areas for improvement, including the need for enhanced management support and communication across all levels. The workload distribution can be demanding in certain departments, and some staff members note that career progression opportunities could be expanded. While compensation may be lower compared to the corporate sector, this is often balanced by the rewarding nature of the work and extensive training opportunities provided.

Would have to look over your payslip and write your hours down because you will be shorted of pay.
The good thingsFlexible hours and a somewhat good team.
The challengesThe management is greedy and cuts hours as well as shifts in order to get bonuses for themselves. A very weird pay slip which includes a deduction that is not mentioned but taken eitherway. Overtime pay is complicated and they try to basically steal. Managers pick favourites and give better hours/shifts to certain staff. No care for the workers health or safety, having to push clients which weigh almost double in commodes or chairs. Clients hitting or harrassing staff overlooked repeatedly.

For a non for profit organization, we hear talks about money TOO often.
The good thingsThe clients. It took me a long time to build up the trust and rapport with the clients, the process is not easy but very rewarding.
The challengesEverything other than the clients. To be fair some of the staff are great. Most of the managers across all levels are terrible. Some clients do not receive deserved attention because their family does not visit often. Some clients' funds have been misused by purchasing items they cannot use.

You need to take care of yourself and be aware what other people are doing around you at all times.
The good thingsThe friendly and supportive staff and the amazing clients
The challengesManagement don't do enough to protect the DSP's from getting injured. DSP's pushing manual wheelchairs with people who are heavier than them, is dangerous and can do a lot of permanent damage to the DSP's body, that can affect them for the rest of their lives. Preventive action is critical
