What’s it like working at Luna Park Sydney?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Luna Park Sydney appreciate the friendly and diverse colleagues, the fun and unique work environment with opportunities to interact with guests, the location and harbour views, and the flexibility to work shifts around other commitments. They also value the employee benefits such as discounted food and merchandise.

However, there are some potential challenges, including issues with management such as a lack of trust, poor leadership, and unrealistic expectations. Employees also mention challenging working conditions like long shifts with limited breaks, standing for extended periods, and exposure to weather elements. Additionally, there is a high staff turnover rate, with many employees leaving after a short period of time, and limited opportunities for training and development, with little room for career progression.

Would you still apply for this job if you had the chance for a redo? Yes. But I would leave after 2 months instead of 2 years.
The good thingsWhen you start, you start with trainees of diverse backgrounds and are often quite fun people. The job also provides great opportunities to interact with kids and parents. The job is very easy to work shifts around university and life.
The challengesOf the group of people you start with, you will slowly start to leave Luna Park. Whether it be management yelling at you for something that is most likely their fault, the fact the job should be part-time and not casual, the job being in the sun and not accomodating of people who like to use the bathroom or have a break in a timely fashion or the feeling of isolation stationed somewhere for hours with no rotation because of the lacklustre training opportunity. Also there is no weekend loading which is not ideal.

It was fun at first, until management decided to change things.
The good thingsThe pay is high for the work you do. You work with a great and diverse group of people.
The challengesManagement not understanding the standpoint of employees leading to a poor work environment. Very busy during the holidays. When the temps reach 30+, management expects you to stand in the sun and make them money. Very high turnover rate. They only give us 1 shift a week.
