The challengesNAB does not care about its employees which was reflected in the way they handled the situation following the passing of an employee at the workplace

Not much more than money. Awful experience
The good thingssome co-workers. It is a cool job in theory.
The challengesUnderstaffed, underpaid, poor poor management, KPI driven, NOT customer focused. Have no regard for psychological and physical risk in the workplace. Worked 50+ hours overtime and was refused payment as, and I quote "it is your own fault you had to stay". We lost 4 staff in 3 months with no replacements.

    Horrid workplace to work
The good thingsfacilitators and managers love power tripping you, very serious staff and management. Horrid workplace with the worst politics i have seen , ive worked for multiple FI, would not reccomend working here if you value your mental health. Goes by He said she said if management dont like you.
The challengesmanagement, help and tense atmosphere

Rewarded for good apparently performance one week & sacked next week for allegedly bad performance?
The good thingsThe employee benefits are actually pretty good.
The challengesMy manager awarded me a pay rise and a bonus for good performance one week and then sacked me for bad performance exactly one week later. How is that even possible? For exactly the same performance?

    Horrid place to work.
The good thingsMy colleagues and some customers.
The challengesPower tripping management that flogs the staff to get a year end bonus. No support, no help, cold shoulders when you need to use your entitled leave eg sick, annual, careers leave. No real opportunities. Unrealistic KPIs. Not customer centric. Be prepared to have accusations made against you from your manager because you spoke up. No culture, no care. Favorisim for certain staff members. Your achievements aren't recognised. This place causes stress, trauma and serious mental health issues.

If you're customer obsessed and focussed on money you'll do well.
The good thingsNAB's old work culture was fun, supportive, focussed on growth and development. There used to be budget at all levels in all areas for colleague engagement.
The challengesUnless you're working in a NAB branch, or in a NAB contact centre, or working in an income-generating role, increasing NAB's already huge profit, you've been devalued. NAB India and NAB Vietnam are the golden children of NAB where hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on providing state of the art workspaces and providing all the resources they need, while other areas of NAB have had their budgets slashed and been told to do more with less. Hundreds of NAB staff are being made redundant with hundreds more on the cards , replaced by a "global workforce". NAB is no longer focussing on staff as a two tiered focus with customers; NAB is now only focussed on customers and profit.

    Worthwhile, entertaining and worth it.
The good thingsVery professional and has articulate structure for development
The challengesfocus more on learning on the floor rather then isolating learning in just a school-based classroom simulation

Fast-paced environment where staff resilience is tested, but genuine support from leadership is lacking.
The good thingsThe branches support one another and the branch managers work tirelessly to support their teams.
The challengesHigh workload and staff burnout is common. Limited genuine support from regional leadership. Culture makes it difficult to safely raise concerns. Staff crying at work and feeling overwhelmed seems to be the norm. Working overtime without being paid is just expected and if you put in overtime it’s frowned upon.

Easy money, but not work the toxic environment.
The good thingsWhen it was quiet it felt like easy money.
The challengesFrom start to finish the workplace environment was toxic and unprofessional. It didn’t improve and I can see why they have a high staff turnover. I wish they would advertise this job as a sales job because essentially that’s what it is. Even though your day to day is 85% over the counter transactions and cash dealings, 99% of nabs focus is on how many account openings did you make this week? How many referrals to specialists did you make this week? And if you don’t meet your unrealistic target because foottraffic was low, it’s your performance that’s the issue! If you’re off sick or away on your entitled leave you’re still required to make up for them weekly targets throughout the year! That’s what the daily focus was and what I personally feel is more sales and money making, rather than customer service and providing a service. If I wanted to work in sales I’d go elsewhere where you can make a commission off it.

It’s is a fun place to work
The good thingsWorking at NAB offers strong career development opportunities, flexible work arrangements, and a supportive, inclusive culture. The bank is committed to diversity, sustainability, and community impact, making it a values-driven workplace. Employees enjoy competitive salaries, bonuses, and staff benefits. Overall, NAB provides a meaningful and rewarding environment for professional growth and deal with challenges and how to overcome them.
The challengesWorking at NAB can involve navigating a large, complex structure, which sometimes slows down decision-making. The fast-paced environment and frequent organisational changes can create pressure to constantly adapt. Additionally, strict compliance and regulatory requirements can add to the workload and limit flexibility.

Fraud Assist AnalystJob was okay at the start until they changed from rotating rosters to fixed shifts... they are now advertising the role again with the promise of rotating shifts so who knows. Weren't open to discussing a change if the shift didn't work for you (just added to expression of interest list for 3 months) and had crazy high KPI's - not worth the headache

Toxic environment, no culture, boys club, long hours.PROS - Great offices in ideal locations, working with some amazing individual contributors, and many staff love NAB. CONS - NAB only care about one thing, money. Workloads are high, staff do very long hours and it's very much a not what you know but who you know environment. Unless you have a good relationship with someone higher up, your days are numbered. If they can get rid of a staff member (temp or perm) to save a few week's pay then backfill the role in a short amount of time they will. You have to play the game to get anywhere, the laziest people always get rewarded and praised, while other people's achivements go unnoticed. Absolutely no culture in NAB at all and micromanagement is rife, senior execs are very out of touch with what's actually happening (either that or they don't care)

Micro-management caused my entire department significant work-related stress with unachievably high KPI's.
The good thingsSome TL's are supportive, some don't know how to help your inquiry and will give wrong information which you are then blamed for providing the customer with, overall management do not care about your well-being and clearly care about their own yearly bonus over your career development.
The challengesHead of our department held a meeting for us to provide feedback on the stress and nodded off as we relayed how work was impacting our lives outside of work and sleep. Poor training and will make your life hell if you are a whistle-blower or speak up.

A very very bad and toxic work place for contractors.
The good thingsThe brand name is big but not the employee reality.
The challengesThis is the case of my very close friend ,the HR and management and treatment of contractors is one of the worst experience one can expect.

I would not recommend this workplace to anyone.
The good thingsHard to identify what the good things were. I guess as an RA it was good to be able to communicate continuous improvement ideas with management in an open forum regularly.
The challengesI found there to be a number of challenges. Incentives and bonus’ were hard to reach. Opportunities to progress internally were limited as an RA. Plus many more challenges…

My experience was very bad, but at some point, it was decent. I was hired for Credit work, but without informing me, they put me in a different vertical. My overall experience and knowledge were wasted. I tried and spent 1.5 years in the organisation hoping that management would listen and understand my concern but nobody approached me to resolve my issue. This is happening with most of the employee but because of their reason, they can't raise their voice to the managment.
The good thingsThe Office Ambience is good, and some of the polcies are decent.
The challengesUnsupportive Managment, People leader retaleate with employee if they raise any concern No HR will bother to interact with employees.

The challengescurrently in an offshore everything mentality and culture has dropped to a point it wasn't worth staying there. No real opportunities for career process, side movements a bit earlier but not with the offshore mentality.

Good first experience in big 4, much better ones out there.
The good thingsGood work environment, good experience for a big 4 bank.
The challenges0 ways to develop. In the group interview they show all these pathways that are blocked off by a mandatory 18 month in your position. If you move to another position it's another 18 months of waiting to move up again. They keep hiring people in the service department but if they just accommodated those already in the role they'd see people staying. It's the minimum salary for the role so of course the second people have a chance to move department they take it. If the salary was more balanced and development was more open they would 100% see more retention for people in entry level roles.
