Good mission, but poor leadership, lack of trust, and excessive workload !The good thingsThe organisation has a good mission and does meaningful work for the community. Some team members are supportive and easy to work with.
The challengesThe biggest issue is the Group Finance Manager’s leadership. The management style is highly controlling and driven by constant micromanagement. There is a clear lack of trust in staff at all levels below this role. Regardless of experience or position, employees are treated like junior staff and are given little autonomy or ownership of their work.
Communication is often unclear, and instructions change frequently. This leads to confusion, rework, and inefficiency. The manager’s emotional approach further adds to a stressful and unstable working environment.
Workload is consistently excessive, with little to no support from management.
Flex day off (FDO) is meant to be a staff benefit, but this manager treats it like a personal favour rather than an entitlement. Staff are not encouraged to take it, and requests are often discouraged or made difficult.
Salary is below market, and pay rises are minimal and not reflective of the workload or level of responsibility.
