What’s it like working at The Salvation Army?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees find the work at The Salvation Army to be meaningful and rewarding, particularly when supporting vulnerable people and local communities. Many appreciate their colleagues and team members, noting that frontline staff are passionate, supportive and create a welcoming environment. The salary packaging benefits are valued, and employees enjoy the variety of roles and tasks available, which keeps the work interesting.

However, there are some potential challenges to consider. Upper management approaches may vary across locations, with some employees noting opportunities for improvement in direction, accountability and communication. Workload can be heavy with understaffing in some areas, which may contribute to pressure. Some employees have indicated that support and training could be more comprehensive, and the organisation's strong focus on KPIs and administrative tasks can be demanding. Additionally, there can be a disconnect between organisational values and day-to-day experiences in certain locations, and systems and digital tools could be updated to improve efficiency.
