What’s it like working at Best & Less?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Best & Less appreciate the friendly and supportive colleagues who create a positive team environment, as well as the lovely customers who make interactions enjoyable. Staff value the variety of tasks and opportunities to learn new skills, from merchandising to customer service, which help build confidence and capability. There are also opportunities for career progression and development, including management courses, and pay and incentives are viewed positively by many employees.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as senior and upper management presenting difficulties with unrealistic expectations and decision-making. Communication around changes and updates can be inconsistent, and workload expectations can be high relative to staffing levels. Store managers can change frequently, and some employees have experienced challenges with management approaches. Additionally, work-life balance can be affected by inconsistent rostering and limited flexibility, particularly for part-time staff.

My role allows me to interact with customers while helping the store operate smoothly
The good thingsThe people are quite nice, and the job itself is quite easy. The pay is good too
The challengesI found it difficult making connections and sometimes would feel targeted by management. It was also sometimes difficult helping customers get what they want as my training was limited and the store is quite big and stock moves around often

Proud to deliver great value and friendly service every day.
The good thingsWorking at Best&Less Busselton has been a really rewarding experience. I’ve genuinely enjoyed being part of a friendly, supportive team where everyone looks out for each other and communicates well. The store has a positive atmosphere, and it’s easy to feel proud of the work we do when customers leave happy. I’ve also enjoyed the variety in my day - from helping customers find what they need, to keeping the store looking great, to learning new tasks on the floor. It’s the kind of workplace where you’re encouraged to grow your skills and take initiative, which has helped me feel more confident and capable. One of the best parts has been building relationships with regular customers. It’s nice to be recognised, have a quick chat, and know that the service we provide really makes a difference. Overall, it’s been a place where I’ve felt valued, supported, and able to enjoy my work.
The challengesCommunication around changes - whether it’s new promotions, stock updates, or shifts in store layout. Sometimes information comes through at the last minute, which can make it harder to prepare properly or deliver the best customer experience.
