What's it like to be a Document Controller?
Document Controllers are responsible for the editing, filing and distribution of corporate documents such as contracts, financial reports and tax returns. They ensure documentation is accurate and kept up-to-date.
Tasks and duties
- Checking documents for accuracy and up-to-date information.
- Providing access to documents upon request.
- Scanning and uploading digital versions of physical documents.
- Creating document templates and editing templates for new contracts.
- Controlling the flow of documentation throughout an organisation, including commercially sensitive or confidential documents.
How to become a Document Controller
You can work as a Document Controller without formal qualifications, but candidates with administrative experience and computer skills may be preferred by many employers.
- 1.Complete a qualification, such as a Certificate III in Business (Administration) (BSB30120) or Certificate IV in Business (Administration) (BSB40120).
- 2.Gain experience in an entry-level administrative role. You could start your career as an Administration Officer or Executive Assistant.
- 3.Consider completing a higher qualification, such as a Bachelor of Business Administration. This provides a broad base of knowledge and may broaden your career options.
