Disappointing Workplace Culture but nice gardens and parks
The good thingsThe gardens and parks in the city are beautiful and a credit to the parks team, Working at the City of Perth was, unfortunately, a very disappointing experience.
The challengesTotal overhaul of lower management structure needs to happen. Staff are not genuinely respected, trusted, or valued for their expertise. Many employees bring strong qualifications and years of experience, yet their professional judgement is routinely questioned or ignored. There is a noticeable lack of trust from middle management, with excessive oversight and some rather questionable behaviour swept under the carpet especially related to potential HR issues with lower management. With staff inductions every two weeks you can see a lot don’t stay for the salary!

Come for the views, dont stay for the toxicity and poor leadership
The good thingsThe views, the parks and great places for lunch, everything other than the actual workplace!
The challengesCommunication from management is inconsistent, and expectations can change without clear direction or support. This creates a workplace culture where employees feel undervalued and micromanaged rather than trusted for their expertise. While the organisation has potential and employs many capable people, ongoing issues with middle management, leadership, accountability, and people management significantly impact morale and job satisfaction.

    Not worth your career experience!!
The good thingsColleagues are nice to work with, very friendly team. In the heart of the City, close to public transportation and amazing lunch spots
The challengesSenior management is a joke. No decision-making capabilities and always trying to protect managers who are doing wrong. Staff turnover is very high. The City is constantly losing good, skilled staff due to egoistic managers. And the sad part is no one does anything about it!
