Some rejections, but what hurts more is the silence. I’ve been applying to jobs nonstop and I honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong anymore. . Tweak my resume, rewrite cover letters, tell myself the next one will be different, and then it isn’t.
It feels like I’m stuck in a system that won’t talk back. Everyone keeps saying the market is “better,” but that’s not what this feels like at all. Are you stuck like me?

I’ve applied for 170 jobs in the last 12 days.
One interview.
Over 60 rejections via seek.
Genuinely seems that it is easier in this day & age to spit out children and be paid for it by the government than to attempt to actually seek a meaningful career.

Hang in there Grant. Chances are you're not doing anything 'wrong' at all. Sometimes it's just a luck thing.
It's hard not to start expecting the same result and that can start to chip away at your confidence. And that might be something that comes through when applying.
It might sound funny but I try to spend time before I apply thinking about my achievements and even try to visualise me aceing the interview. Might be worth a shot?

I’ve felt with my experience recently it’s not what you know it’s who you know :(

Grant I know how you feel. I have applied for hundreds of jobs with hardly a response other than auto-response. It is a measure of so many applicants they just can't cope, combined with bad manners & etiquette. We just have to soldier on & realise sometimes we have dodged a bullet & weren't meant to take that path

I completely agree with this statement! Applying for jobs left and right had gotten me nowhere and yet people continue to sound like a broken record after a while of just repeating the phrase “you gotta find what’s right for you” what’s right for me is the money and payment that need to be made not what “I wanna do” in this economy it’s either prey or be preyed upon

I e experienced the same. Even made it through first round of interviews and then never heard back from them to say I was unsuccessful. Poor form by prospect employers.

Know about it all too well..
I’m dual trade and don’t even get a look in with jobs I am qualified for.
Australia has become “hire your mate and bugger the bloke that knows what he’s doing”.
It’s no longer what you know, but who you know.
