How can I ask my employer about a pay rise? I have been in my job for 1.5 years and I didn’t feel confident enough at my annual review to bring it up (I know i need to be more assertive, I'm working on it!). I did get a cost-of-living % increase, but I want to shoot for at least another 10%. Should I wait until my six-month review or just bring it up now? Does anyone have experience successfully asking for a raise?

Looking for a new job and shocked at how low salaries are compared to the job criteria and experience. For someone with 8 years experience (academic coordinator) roles are max. 85k! Considering the COL situation in Oz, how are people living on these wages?

The median Australian wage is apparently almost 2 grand per week. No one in my extended earns anywhere near that amount. What are you all doing to be earning that much?? Is there any realistic way the 'average' person can get close to that income?

Christmas bonuses - what are you getting? Do you get one? we get 10% at the start of every calendar year. But my tech bro friend gets 25% at the end of financial year. What’s the norm? I’m keen to hear from different industries so I know if I’m getting a good deal.

So I'm very disgruntled at work right now - long story short, we hired a new person in our team slightly junior to me and I found out they're getting paid around ~5k more. I know it's not that much more at the end of the day but wtf. How do I bring it up with my manager? I can't not say anything. Discussing salary is banned at my company so I'm not sure how to initially mention it. Tips? Advice?
