ICT Delivery/Scrum Master -Program Scope Essential 8 Cyber Uplift
Ghosting. I am really becoming disheartened. The amount of time I spend doing an inane cover letter etc. Not a word back. What has happened in the recruitment space. It never used to be like this.

Personally I would say its time to name and shame. If you have applied for a job make a note of the day and if you have not had a response in a couple of week you can always call the company and ask for feedback on your application. Once you get that you know they could not be bother to email you a rejection letter. So name and shame them so the rest of us dont waste our time. That is the only way they will learn. It really does not take much effort for the companies.

worst part of my experience is when recruitment agents advertise a role that doesn't exist. Simply to extract your data and probably sell it off to data brokers for money. sad state of recruitment in 2025. it's like people have forgotten what "fair go" means.. good old days of walking up to an employer and getting hired are long gone. technology doesn't always improve the experience, it only empowers the technocrats whilst keeping you "engaged" with the app, whilst not helping you at all..

It's not just you Tracy. I know that doesn't fix it, but wanted you to know it happens to all of us. Employers simply don't follow up as often as they should. Try not to let it get you down 🫶

the saddest part are the ones who get into positions of authority (namely hiring positions, not just managerial) and treat the next lot of applicants the same way they were treated, or worse, treat applicants poorly because their workplace culture endorses it.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!

I have applied for over 50 + jobs, ghosted by 95% and the other 5% interview told I’m over qualified or highly desirable and then nothing happens. It’s so frustrating. I also spend hours tailoring resumes and cover letters to suit each position so it’s picked up by companies even if they use AI to search through. I’m still getting no where. It’s incredibly defeating especially after I have spent a decent career in one field and now pivoting with extremely transferable skills.

Catfish employers. Make an insanely attractive resume, tailor your cover letter, lie through the interview and take the job. Then just don't turn up for work and let them deal with it. I'm sick and tired of it all being so one-sided in favour of employers. They don't behave fairly; why should anyone do it for them?
