Heavy Combination Driver
Can someone please explain what the secret is to combating the frequent rejection reason of "you don't have side tipper experience with quads" when applying for MC Mining roles, especially when you have ample MC manual and auto experience, including up to type 1 road trains and a single side tipper? Driven all around the country up to 22hrs in one shift, carried pretty much all cargo except explosives.

Try WA - they’re always looking for drivers in South Hedland. It’s hot and FIFO is hard but could be a good exp for work closer to home. Partner and I were there during Covid for 18 months. He’d driven B doubles and road trains for years but not side tippers. Road trains are good exp as long mining quad tippers = a tiny sway at the front becomes deadly four trailers down. It’s tough - employers put on 10 drivers & send 5 back within 2 wks as it’s obvious they not capable Drug/Alcohol tests daily

Sounds like you’ve got plenty of solid experience as it is. Is it possible they want you to be super specific about "quad side tipper" time, and when they don't see that, you're being pushed aside? Just thinking it may even be the recruiters that don't have the knowledge of how those skills transfer. You might have to spell it out for them.
