Most Australians say... 'purpose at work matters more than pay', REALLY??? Reading that shocked me. I get it, meaningful work sounds great… but honestly, I’m happier with better pay. Am I alone in feeling this way? Do you agree that purpose really comes first?

Unless you are ticking every box for an employer What you think you are worth and what an employer thinks you’re worth are rarely the same. A job with purpose is more enjoyable than one without, it doesn’t feel like work, also makes the day go quicker. Prove your worth then use that as leverage to discuss a wage increase. If they don’t budge on a raise then consider this job as more experience you can add to the next. The more you know the more valuable you are

No you are not, we deserve worthy payment. No money = cannot live. Logic is that simple. Basically having opinion about work for money not purpose in life is an okay principle.

Guys don’t blame your bosses it’s really our government killing us to death. Because they control what the national standard is and if they raise it then they have to pay you 31 or 32 or whatever it is. So it’s not your bosses it’s fair work thinking 25 is enough for families these days with a mortgage

Purpose gives you drive especially when it gets hard and you come up against road blocks in your career. I’ve been in a really good paying job and I’ve been stone walled on training, where I needed it to progress in my career. You can’t expect people to stay in a job if they can’t progress in their career especially internally and externally in another company if the company you are in fills positions with someone else rather than you.

National standards are 25 until the government decide to raise it to the cost of living these businesses can legally get away with it under a contract.

I am a highly experienced dental assistant and receptionist with 20 years experience and lately I've been appalled at the casual positions offering the same hourly rate as a full time position!

Very right Grace, we find the purpose and company finds the profit. How about our progress in life finanacially? Do we have to wait for HR persons pity or donation in the name of payrise? When a company makes/increases its target every year, why shouldn't we do the same? Why don't we get a decent paycheck? Hope it make sense. I agree with you completely.
