I have been made redundant at 65 years of age and was not wanting to retire yet. The organisation is cutting positions. I get the sinking feeling I might be forced to retire. Do Employers have any interest in employing 65year olds?

Hi Jennifer, Keep positive! You’ve acquired a load of skills, and the question isn’t “Will employers hire me at 65?” It’s “who needs my awesome skills and experience?” There’s a company out there who would benefit greatly by hiring you. Go out there knowing your worth! 💗

I am 47 years old, with 15 of experience in construction industry from carpenter to site supervisor. Got redundant 2 weeks ago and from last 4 weeks applying for jobs, only have 1 interview and not hearing back from other employers or agencies. Seems pretty tuff and stress building up from family responsibilities too.

I'm with you. I resigned from my Position late June / had a break/ holiday and am ready to get back into it ... However , even Though I am very experienced in My Industry , It seems no one wants to hire a 63 year old woman... Very demoralizing M

I'm 66 and not ready to retire. I'm with an agency who have paid for me to do Certificate III in aged care as they are screaming out for people.

Sorry to hear this, retirement is nice but it should be on your terms, not something thats forced. You've probably got some awesome skills, and the fact you could retire - but don't want to - that says a lot of good I think. It's pretty sad any of us have to worry about an expiry date. 😞

Yeah I found it very hard. Wasn’t even getting a call back, let alone an interview. I took the years off my education and chopped half of my Cv, so I only had 15 years of experience. And it worked
