No matter how many jobs I apply for, they either ghost me or turn me down. I've remade my resume 3 different times, adding more information with each change. I honestly don't have a clue as to what I'm doing wrong.

I truly believe, just like certain fields are mandatory in the application process, I feel it should also become a mandatory requirement for employers, to view the resume, you must agree then upon having done so, it is mandatory to then provide constructive critism, with a minimum of, if not more, 1 suggestion, comment or piece of advice to improve their resume & or application, Or Instead highlight which part they did or did not like.
This would help both employee and future employers.

My local council adult education centre runs a free course on updating your resume and applying for jobs. It has been very helpful for me as 15 yrs since last applying for a job and things have changed so much. Do a search and see if anyone in your area offers such a course. I think some TAFEs may offer a similar service.

There's some great advice here from Mitch and Andrew. It's not easy out there at the moment! One thing that can help to get past systems that scans applications, as well as when it's read by a person, is mirroring some of the language on the job ad, and specifically answering the selection criteria. It's extra work but well worth it in our opinion. Here's a Career Advice article which might be interesting: https://www.seek.com.au/career-advice/article/5-resume-tips-that-will-get-you-an-interview

Job hunting is tough! Getting ghosted or rejected doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Keep going, maybe try networking or asking for feedback where you can. The right role will come!

After having no issues finding work in the past, I’m struggling this time. I left my last role in Dec 2024 to prioritise completing my final year of a double degree and graduating on time, which I did in Nov. I’ve applied for 40+ roles here since with only default rejections. I’ve reworked my resume and cover letters multiple times, so I’m wondering if the employment gap is the issue. I’m applying for roles I already have experience in to ease back into work before moving into graduate roles.
