How can I ask my employer about a pay rise? I have been in my job for 1.5 years and I didn’t feel confident enough at my annual review to bring it up (I know i need to be more assertive, I'm working on it!). I did get a cost-of-living % increase, but I want to shoot for at least another 10%. Should I wait until my six-month review or just bring it up now? Does anyone have experience successfully asking for a raise?

if you’ve been doing well and can show how your work’s made an impact, there’s no harm in having the chat earlier. What helped me before was framing it around what I’ve contributed, not just how long I’ve been there... And honestly, good on you for recognising the confidence part!! once you’ve got your points ready, it gets so much easier to talk about it without feeling awkward.

Great question! You're not alone, almost 50% of Australians feel the same when it comes to asking and bringing it up after 12 months isn't bad timing. We're sure others will have some great tips on this, and first hand experience getting it over the line. We've for a bit of advice here to help prep for that conversation: https://www.seek.com.au/career-advice/article/want-a-pay-rise-say-this Good luck! Let us know how you go.
