Question for FT peeps. How much overtime do you do? I find myself at work until 7ish or slightly later the 3 days I'm in the office. I don't seem to have any overtime or time in lieu stuff in my contract. Is it required by law? I don't want to be working late all the time but I also don't want to lose my job. Is it normal to have to work late this much? I'm in marketing for a tech co.

(Not a lawyer but i asked fair work ombudsmen about this) If you are covered by an relevant Award, (or written in your contract) Fair Work Act states employers can request employees to work overtime over there maximum weekly hours where the additional time is 'reasonable.' The problem is the vague wording of 'reasonable' as its subjective and open to interpretation. Recommend calling FWO on 13 13 94 for advice if you think its excessive. Be aware though they might just tell you to call a lawyer.

I do an hour here and there. Overtime is not daily, if it got that consistent, I'd start questioning it.
