I'm an illustrator in an all-rounder digital role doing social media, video editing, basic graphic design etc. and I'm not finding it fulfilling. I don't really enjoy "content creation" and want to move into a more "serious" design role at one of the bigger agencies but I don't know where to start. Aside from applying for jobs I like, is there anything else I can do to make the leap? Should I be mocking up concepts to put in my portfolio or even applying to Award School? Any advice?

I think in any career leap, networking is a huge part of it. If you're not keen on going to events and things just yet, even just connecting with people online in the industry could be helpful. I'd message a few people who are already where you would like to be, and ask them for some pointers. The worst thing they can do is not reply.
