How easy / hard to get Electrician Apprenticeship in Australia rn? Do I need to do the HSC or should I apply now to 'get ahead' of the school leavers? Or should I do VET while still in school? any advice appreciated...

My nephew did school based, which took some time off the total apprenticeship. There were two options, one didnt require entering a traineeship right away, I think it really depends what your school has organised. He seems so young, and is almost qualified, so pretty good option.
My son wants to do similar, but is finding it tough because some schools don't have the level of support, and trade college is quite long trip (no driver lic yet). Maybe a chat with careers advisor at school?
