I read an article last week about 'quiet cracking' which is basically burnout. My work is super hectic at the moment and there are times when I go home completely wrecked and just stare at my phone - Is that burnout? I'm sure it's not good but I'm only in my 20s so it can't permanently damage me can it?

Not qualified to talk about permanent damage but in my experience the habits we form in our 20s can be hard to break. And if it's feeling like an all the time thing that's affecting you outside of work it might be worth talking to someone. I always found talking about boundaries with my boss difficult bc it felt it might sound like I was tapping out. Could it be possible to suggest some changes so things run a bit smoother and not so hectic?

I feel like it can show up in lots of ways. Sometimes it's just vegging but then I've had times where I started feeling weird physical symptoms so it can get real quickly. Defo look after yourself.

You have to balance the costs to you (health mental & physical, social relationships, monetary/time sacrifice, missed opportunities etc) vs the reward (experience, monetary gains, career goals/accomplishments etc) you gain from that role. That said burnouts can get pretty bad not just for yourself but the people (loved ones) around you as well doesn't matter your age and also can have long lasting effects long after you leave that role. No shame in talking/discussing about it with others

It kind of sounds like it is. Having some long tired days happens sometimes to all of us. But if it's how you're always feeling? Could be worth chatting to someone and seeing if you can get some support. We all think we're kind of invincible in our 20s, but we need to look after ourselves then too.
