The CEO of my 50-person office leaves on time every day at 5pm - much earlier than half of the staff, including people earning basically minimum wage. My last boss at least worked later than everyone. I just want to know what's the norm - am I justified in feeling like bosses should work harder than their staff?

Nah I actually think it's a good thing. They're setting a good example in terms of work/life hygiene. Plus productivity isn't measured by how long you spend in the office. You should leave right alongside them!

I had to have a little chuckle at this. Its possible you're not seeing what the CEO gets done at home, it may be extensive. BUT... at the same time, the lowest paid staff in some places hold the workplace together. Right down to the office cleaners. ☺️
