I work for a local non-profit in social work and have for the last 6 years but I'm ideally looking to move into a government role at SA Health. I already know about the I Work For SA website, so I’m wondering if anyone has any more specific advice on finding/landing a job there.

If helpful when I made the transition from non government to a government job I had help with writing my cover letter and resume in the language and style that aligned with government. Most departments prefer candidates who can demonstrate this in their application. In addition sometimes you can increase the likelihood of a permanent contract for employment if you are already working for the department, consider applying for a contract term of employment to strengthen your long-term goal.

Hopefully someone else comes through with some personal experience. In the meantime, here's an article from our Career Advice section which has some great tips on the government hiring process - https://tinyurl.com/4yzehxkm. 😊
